What is worth seeing and visiting while spending a weekend in Brussels

  1. La Grand Place - the most beautiful attraction in Brussels The most popular place in Belgium cannot escape your attention when planning a trip to Brussels. La Grand Place is the city's main square surrounded by historic buildings and beautiful tenement houses. Leaving the charming street straight to the square, your eyes will be drawn to the town hall with its Gothic facade decorated with numerous sculptures of saints and Brabant princes, baroque guild houses with golden ornaments and the Maison du Roi, the current seat of the City Museum. La Grand Place is most impressive in the evening, when the setting sun bathes the buildings in orange light, and also after dark, during illumination shows, during which the buildings are illuminated with rainbow colors.
  2.  Manneken Pis - the symbol of Brussels Near La Grand Place, it is worth seeing an unusual fountain. A naked boy peeing in a small pool attracts many tourists who believe that touching his left shoulder will bring them good luck. Manneken Pis is often dressed up in different costumes, depending on the occasion. In this way, the small figurine was already, among others, a paramedic, a cowboy, a soldier, an astronaut, Elvis Presley or Saint. Nicholas... Of course, there was a Polish accent - the boy was also dressed up in a Krakow folk costume. Nearby there are slightly less popular, but equally nice figurines - Jeanneke Pis and Zinneke Pis, i.e. a peeing girl and a peeing dog.
  3.  Brussels - The royal city After visiting La Grand Place and walking through the maze of narrow streets, head towards Mont des Arts with a breathtaking view of Brussels. The artistic district, called the Hill of Art, is brimming with culture. This is where the greatest tourist attractions in Brussels are located - the Royal Palace, the Museum of Musical Instruments, the Royal Museum of Fine Arts, and the Royal Library.
  4.  Cathedrals in Brussels St. Cathedral Michael and St. Guduli, located on the Treurenberg hill, impresses with its facade and two towers built in the Gothic style, and overall resembles the Notre-Dame Cathedral in Paris. Inside the temple, you will be able to admire colorful stained glass windows, baroque statues of the apostles, an impressive pulpit and a monumental organ. One of the most beautiful temples in Belgium - located in the center of Brussels, on the charming Grand Sablon square, Église Notre-Dame du Sablon represents the Brabant and Radiant Gothic style. The interior of the cathedral is equally impressive, and the powerful organ and colorful stained glass windows will enchant every visitor.
  5. Brussels - European Quarter Most of the EU institutions are located in the European Quarter. This is where you can find: the European Parliament, in front of which the flags of the member states proudly fly, the seat of the European Council and the European Commission, as well as the Parliamentarium, a modern center that interestingly shows visitors, among others, the history of European integration and the rules of work in individual institutions. If you're tired of steel structures, go to one of the parks near the Parliament. Leopold Park is dominated by unusual tree species and wild fauna that gathers around a charming lake. The Fifty-Anniversary Park, located right next to it, is also conducive to rest and relaxation, and the numerous inhabitants of Brussels who come here are the greatest proof of this. The main attraction is the spectacular triple triumphal arch with a beautiful quadriga at the top, which was erected at the beginning of the last century to celebrate Belgium's independence.
