In 2024, Łódź Airport handled over 431,000 passengers. This result is 21% better compared to 2023 and as much as 78% higher than in 2019—the last year before the pandemic.
Łódź Airport has summarized the year 2024. Over the year, it handled exactly 431,142 passengers, marking the second-best result in the airport’s history. The record from 2012 was missed by just over 30,000 travelers. Of the total passengers, 337,397 were on regular scheduled flights, and 93,373 were on summer charter flights, meaning every fifth person using Łódź Airport was heading on vacation.
Last year, Łódź Airport offered 8 regular (year-round) routes to Alicante, Birmingham, Brussels, Dublin, East Midlands, London, Málaga, and Milan. The highest number of passengers flew to London Stansted, Milan Bergamo, and Alicante. Among charter destinations, Antalya, Bodrum, and Enfidha were the most popular.
Considering all flights (scheduled and charter) in 2024, the top destinations were London (106,330 passengers), Antalya (56,904), and Milan Bergamo (47,764). The next spots were taken by the year-round Spanish destinations—Alicante and Málaga.
“When I took over as CEO of Łódź Airport in mid-2017, we had only three scheduled connections to London, Dublin, and East Midlands. There were no summer charter flights at all. We served 207,000 passengers that year.
Since then, we have doubled the number of processed passengers and increased the number of destinations fivefold. Last year, passengers could travel to 15 destinations. The most positive development is that we’re witnessing a growing trend, and the increase in passenger numbers is not just a one-time event. We’re steadily climbing upward. We’re delighted that the people of Łódź are taking advantage of the opportunity to explore the world, thanks to Ryanair and charter operators available at Łódź Airport. We thank our passengers for their positive feedback regarding our airport services, which motivates us to continue developing. We’ve proven that our airport is not only needed by passengers but is also essential for the growth of the local economy,” says Dr. Anna Midera, CEO of Łódź Airport.
In the 2024 ranking for the number of passengers handled, Łódź surpassed the airports in Lublin (425,000) and Bydgoszcz (official data not yet published, but unofficial sources indicate the airport did not exceed 400,000) for the first time in many years. Ahead of Łódź is Szczecin Airport (approximately 482,000), followed only by the "millionaires"—airports with a stake held by the state-owned PPL company, which handle over a million passengers annually.
“Although our goal was to approach half a million passengers, the result showing a more than 20% increase in travelers is very satisfying, especially considering the current development challenges faced by airlines due to the lack of necessary aircraft to meet the growing demand for air travel. We hope to maintain the upward trend this year and expand the offerings of Łódź Airport,” says Robert Makowski, Commercial Director of Łódź Airport.
In 2025, flights from Łódź will be available to Alicante, London Stansted, Birmingham, Brussels Charleroi, Dublin, Málaga, and Milan Bergamo.
During the summer season, which starts at the end of April, destinations will include Bulgaria (Burgas), Greece (Crete, Rhodes, Zakynthos), Tunisia (Enfidha), Turkey (Antalya and Bodrum), and a brand-new addition to Łódź Airport’s offerings—Albania (Tirana).
